Jasper Landmarks and Jasper Monuments
(Jasper, Alberta - AB, Canada)
Some of the main landmarks in the Jasper area are not manmade, but formed by nature over literally thousands of year. Surrounding the Jasper townsite, the region's main landmarks have become an integral part of the scenery and landscape.
Popular landmarks on Jasper's outskirts include the simply breathtaking Athabasca Falls, the awesome Maligne Canyon, and the more unusual Miette Hotsprings, where locals and visitors from Jasper come to bathe throughout the year. Here are Jasper's main landmarks.
Jasper Landmarks and Monuments: Maligne Canyon - Maligne Lake Road, Jasper, Alberta (AB), T0E 1E0, Canada

One of the most exceptional natural landmarks in the Jasper area, the Maligne Canyon (pronounced 'ma-leen') is the result of erosion over many thousands of years. With tremendous variations in depth and height, at the deepest point the Maligne Canyon measures around 60 meters / 200 feet. Self-guided trails and a number of high bridges over the canyon afford some superb views, with the scenery changing dramatically season by season. This dramatic limestone gorge is just 7 miles / 11 km to the east of Jasper.

Lying on the southern outskirts of Jasper, the Athabasca Falls can be found around 30 km / 48 km from the Jasper townsite. One of the area's most impressive waterfalls in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, the Athabasca Falls are a popular place to visit and offer superb views of the surrounding mountainous scenery. Originating from the nearby Columbia Glacier, the falls are fed by the Athabasca River, which roars through a narrow gorge before tumbling down the falls. Highlights around the Athabasca Falls include walking trails, picnic spots, white water rafting and many exceptional photo opportunities.
